LOCKOUT/TAGOUT

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), also called consignation, is a safety procedure used to isolate, lock, and identify all hazardous energy sources (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or thermal) in order to prevent accidental start-up or release of energy during maintenance, cleaning, or repair work.

Its main purpose is to protect workers by ensuring that equipment remains completely de-energized and inoperative throughout the intervention.

Principle of Lockout/Tagout :
-Individual or group lockout padlocks
-Group lockout box (for team work)
-Tags and warning signs
-Valve locks, circuit breaker locks, and push-button locks

Purpose of Lockout/Tagout :
-Protect workers from accidental machine start-up or unexpected energy release.
-Maintain complete control of hazardous energies during maintenance.
-Ensure accountability and traceability of each worker involved in the intervention.
